Our Story
Redstone’s commitment to supporting people living with Parkinson’s began with residents Dick and Kathy Cooper, who facilitated a Parkinson’s Support Group at Redstone since 2013. Dick and Kathy made us aware of the need in our area for programs that supported people living with Parkinson’s Disease. Redstone agreed and made the commitment to offer Parkinson’s programs FREE of charge to both Redstone residents and to the public. Today, Redstone offers fitness classes and support groups for those living with Parkinson’s Disease and their caregivers.
Fitness
Age in Motion
Redstone’s Parkinson’s Fitness incorporates the disciplines of the Age in Motion Program, which incorporates strength, endurance and balance exercises with an emphasis on performing Activities of Daily Living. Classes are led by our therapy partner, PowerBack Rehabilitation.
Spring, Summer and Fall sessions are available at Redstone’s North Huntingdon and Greensburg communities.
Vitality Check
A Vitality Check is completed for participants in the program and is intended to improve well-being and quality of life, by identifying physical, emotional, environmental, social and intellectual changes impacting the participants overall well-being.
