Make a Difference! Volunteer at Redstone!

Volunteers help improve the quality of lives for others while enriching their own.

Serving as a volunteer is a very rewarding endeavor. Giving of your time and talent to improve the quality of life of others is proven to improve our satisfaction with our own lives, our health, and our emotional well-being. When we help others, we help ourselves.

Redstone offers a wide range of opportunities for people who are interested in volunteerism. If you would like to share your time to touch lives and benefit your community, Redstone may be the ideal place for you.

How much time is required?

Our volunteer positions can fit into a range of schedules. Whether you prefer to help us weekly, monthly or on an “on call” basis, there are volunteer options at Redstone. We will help you find one that fits well with your other activities and responsibilities.

What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteers serve in many ways both at Redstone and with Redstone@Home. Friendly visitors, mail deliverers, readers, musicians and choir directors, gift shop attendants, activities helpers, pet therapists, the list goes on and on! Some of our volunteers receive special additional training which prepares them to serve as volunteers with our hospice program. These volunteers serve as companions and vigil volunteers for those on the hospice journey. Hospice volunteerism can be an especially meaningful way to serve. We will work with you to find a place where you feel comfortable and ready to give of yourself and your talents in just the right way!

How will I know what to do?

Orientation is provided to all of our volunteers. You will have a chance to meet with one of our volunteer coordinators, tour our communities, and find out about Redstone and the work volunteers do. Once we find a volunteer position that suits your interests and schedule, we will help you to learn that job and provide the resources and support you need to work with our residents and staff.

Where can I volunteer?

Volunteers serve in a variety of capacities at each of our three communities, in Greensburg, North Huntingdon and Murrysville.

How old do I need to be?

Traditional volunteers need to be at least 15 years old. We are organizing a Junior Volunteer Club to involve 12 to 14 year olds in our programs. Contact us for more information?

How do I get started?

Contact our Volunteer Services Supervisor by calling 724-832-8400 X 307 to get the process started. You can also drop us an email at volunteer@redstonehighlands.org. We will have you come in for an interview and to fill out some paperwork. All volunteers must undergo a background check and TB testing. Your cooperation helps us to create a secure environment for our residents.
